2016 Spring Editorial Feature: Invited Design

02 02 2016

We invite you to continue to be inspired by our spring editorial feature all photographed by the talented Jimmy Bishop of Gideon Photo, check out the beginnings of what any event starts with, well designed paper goods with pertinent information! West End Girl worked closely with Fuse Weddings & Events to pull together one beauty of a custom invitation suite for us and we are smitten with it! Take a look …..

West End Girl used pops of dark mixed with spring colors to create intriguing contrast. The napkin fabric was scanned so she could replicate it seamlessly into the paper goods, used as an envelop liner and RSVP envelope, this floral pattern is what has us smitten! A simple + elegant design with a touch of blush hand lettering throughout to read spring + bridal leads us right to our gorgeous venue, Salt Lake Hardware Building.

SL Hardware has long been one of our most favorite indoor venues in the SLC area, a historical building with architectural significance and intriguing textures, this space is neutral enough to make any theme work but has a great vibe for current trends.

The contribution a planner + designer offers a well designed event, assistance in planning, and of course problem solving is a priceless contribution to the perfect wedding. We brought on one of our favorite planning + designing companies to tackle the planning + design on our spring editorial and they went above and beyond! Fuse Weddings + Events stole our spring yearning hearts! Mara Joins us with her insight on spring weddings and this particular design.

Although gorgeous, spring in Utah can be challenging – the weather doesn’t always cooperate. When spring weddings are planned indoors, it’s a safe bet for inclement weather but it’s sometimes a challenge to make and indoor space feel “springy”. I was excited to design a spring wedding at the Salt Lake Hardware building because the urban and raw interior gave me both a blank canvas to work with as well as some incredibly fun architectural elements to play off of.

My aesthetic tends to run on the more polished and elegant side of the scale, even when designing within an urban or rustic space. Like many of our design processes, one element happened to steer and set the tone for the rest of the design. In this case, we sourced a custom-made napkin that featured a bold floral pattern atop a black background. I knew I didn’t want black to be a major focus, but I knew it would lend itself as a great anchor in the design to complement the exposed brick walls, raw wood beams and urban vibe of the venue.

Mara and her team are always bliss to work with and her vision is always on point with trending styles. Stay tuned for more details behind this gorgeous spring editorial shoot throughout the entire week!
