Hosting the Perfect Bridal Shower

01 11 2016

This post may not be for the bride but we know so many of our readers are also the wings of the bridal party! This one is for your gals! Today our own Lindsey is signing on to chat bridal shower hosting with you!

The time has come to shine! When hosting a bridal shower it’s all about the beautiful bride and her lovely guests. You want the shower to be unique, something different than just your normal day of games. When planning a shower it’s important to think outside the box. What are some things the guests haven’t seen or done before? You still need to highlight the important aspects of a shower like eating and wedding flair but what are some ways to make it different? Let’s take this broad question and address it with some great ideas to help make your shower unique and memorable for all.

Pasta with chicken
Cooking Class

Let’s face it, we all love food! Start your bridal shower off right with a hands-on cooking class for your guests. This is a great way to switch up the normal lunch to be expected. Create an edible masterpiece and sit down to chat amongst your friends while you enjoy your work of art! Cooking classes can either be done in the comfort of your home with a professional chef or at any participating culinary centers. Either way these classes are so much fun and will leave the girls talking for days!

Stunning table décor-

Drop jaws with your stunning table décor! Create perfection by sticking to a color palette, and by choosing the right textures and patterns for your display. By doing this you will create elegance that will draw your guests towards your dramatic work! Get inspiration through bridal mags and websites such as and Photographers also create stylized inspiration shoots that can be seen on their Instagram accounts and websites. Create perfection by sticking to a color palette, and by choosing the right textures an all the many outlets to receive great inspiration for the style and overall feel of your shower!

DIY floral crowns

DIY projects have become a very popular and expense saving craze. Women everywhere are jumping at the chance to create a DIY stunning success. So why not incorporate this fun fad into the bridal shower? DIY floral crowns highlight the wedding theme while fulfilling the ladies craving for an exciting DIY project! It also makes for a gorgeous party favor at the end of the day. Don’t forget to remind the ladies to dry out their flowers for a beautiful memory that will last forever! You can also try DIY centerpieces by using wine bottles or mason jars, twine, initial monogram print-outs and candles from your local craft store and voila, let the creativity begin!

A lot of hosts forget about pictures during the shower and so much fun is being missed. There are a few different ways to capture and share all of the great moments from the shower. Hiring a photographer for a few hours is not only inexpensive but also gives the host the ability to enjoy every aspect of the shower without the focus of capturing pictures. Another route is to incorporate the guests. Ask the guests to use a specific hash tag (like: #lindseysbridalshower) when posting their photos on Facebook and Instagram. The ladies will all capture different photos throughout the shower. This also allows for each guest to see the photos from the shower right away! And finally, a photo booth! Photo booths are extremely popular right now and this is something everyone at the shower will enjoy. Have the booth set up so as guests are arriving they can step inside and take some great shots. The bride will receive a disc which features all of the fun photos as a fantastic reminder of the shower! If you’re light on cash and looking for an inexpensive way to recreate this, consider a DYI photo-op as a creative alternative. Think about grabbing some fun props and set up a back drop to set the theme!

perfume DIY

Fragrance bar

Last but not least, a custom fragrance bar, this is a unique idea that guests will adore! Each guest can create their signature scent and take home a lovely perfume to be used for months! Who doesn’t love a great perfume, and one that they have created themselves?

There are perfume parties that you can host at your home or perfume kits that you can buy online to get you started. Another DIY option is to gather the guests and have everyone pick a few flowers that appeal to them the most. This can be done from your garden or from the blooms left over from the floral crowns! Fill a jar with odorless oil and cut off the stems of the flowers, then pour the flowers into the jar of oil. After sitting for a couple of days the perfume is ready to be poured into a perfume bottle!
So there you have it, some out of the box ideas for your upcoming shower. These fun ideas will have your guests swooning and talking about your amazing hosting skills for weeks! Just be careful about word getting out, you may become the go-to girl for bridal showers everywhere!
