Flower Friday: Women In Weddings Utah

09 28 2012

This past week we attended a luncheon for the ladies that work in this great industry {and some dudes too!} up in the fall splendor that Heber offers on a gorgeous ranch called Red Cliff! We were stunned by the floral decor that Branches created for the fancy table scape we dined at, and couldn’t help but share with you this floral beauty ensemble. All the vendors involved pulled rabbits out of hats creating crazy beautiful inspiration! But the florals, oh the florals. Enjoy a few words from Amanda @ Branches and even more so enjoy these amazing images of her works and our environment from David Newkirk!

When I was asked to provide the flowers for this years WIW luncheon, I knew two things had to ensue: they needed to be a reflection of me and they needed to make a statement. Having never been to Red Cliff Ranch, I started by researching the venue as well as  making sure I had a an idea of the space and scale. This was key in determining the choices in both flowers and containers.

Working around the perimeters given and the designated palate of purple, yellow and golds, I played the rustics of the ranch against the sophistication that should come with an event for wedding professionals.  I paired wooden boxes along side gold frames that held seasonal fruit like pears and figs. Using fruit in the design really brought out the feel of fall without being too cliche. My next hurdle was figure out how to bring height into the florals . The venue needed something to compliment its loftiness. This is where the buckets, which played off the stable feel, came into play. They held tall grasses which added just the right amount of grandeur without being too static. By taking all these individual items and juxtaposing them by another, I achieved a look that was both upscale, natural and warm.

Flowers implemented were antique hydrangea, southern cross, various mosses, scabiosa, ornamental peppers, amnesia roses, sahara roses, smokebush, kale, ranunculus, zebra grass, fever few, billy balls, pampass grass, maple leaves, bittersweet vine and celiosa.
