Flower Friday {Queen Annes Lace}

It appeases me to present a single flower education every once in a while, and especially for those types that seem to elegantly blend into it all, you likely dont know what that lovely texture is or where it comes from, but now you will! Queen Annes Lace is a simply divine filler, offering a delicate & intricate texture to any wedding floral design.

So where does this lovely bloom get its name? Well legend has it that Anne, Wife of King James, was given a challenge to make lace as beautiful as a flower. While making the lace she pricked her finger, so its said that when the red center of this filler develops it represents a droplet of her blood. Its not highly used in today’s designs however with that red center, you mostly see it in varying stages of bloom in tones of greens and whites.

This flower also boasts some less attractive names like: Wild Carrot, Bishops Lace, or Bird’s Nest. It has come to represent sanctuary. It can be a very hardy and enduring bloom if cared for properly. With all the texture that today’s brides desire this is bound to become a big presence in upcoming floral trends.
