flower friday:a flower in your hair

04 30 2010

When Sarah @ wedding planning advice contacted ubb about being a guest blogger, I was exstatic, this girl knows her wedding stuff, but even better when she submitted some ideas this particular post of hers was suited like a glove to flower friday! thanks Sarah! & enjoy!

Finding the right hair accessory for your special day can be a challenge. Trends come and go in a flurry of flair…pearls, curls, bling, string…enough already! A bridal trend that has stood the tests of time is the flower hair accessory. Whether you are looking for faux or fresh, there are plenty of choices to suit your style.

For the mover & shaker

If you are a no-fuss social butterfly, you are sure to damage your ‘do on the dance floor. A floral accented hair comb will stay put from “I Do’s” to making your rounds for “Thank you’s.”

For the Bold Nature Lover…

Even though you may not be a full-fledged granola girl, a colorful fresh flower is a beautiful accent to any wedding hairstyle. A pink peony would add color to your look without distracting from the most important part…your face! Simply secure the bloom with hairpins or clips. In case your blossom dares to droop, make sure you are prepared with backup buds!

For the Glamour Girl

Are you constantly pushing the envelope with fashion? Do you gravitate towards to dramatic and daring? If you are a fearless fashionista, a large, bold flower is the perfect addition to your ensemble. Modern bridal accessory designers are creating floral inspired headpieces using feathers, crystals, and pearls. The sky is the limit with this hot trend!

For the Pixie Princess

If your haircut is short and sweet, a floral headband is the perfect accessory to complete your look. Since long, layered locks are not your taste, a headband adorned with floral accents will give your hair a special flair.

For the Simple Sweetie

White roses are a classic choice for wedding floral design. The sturdy nature of the buds base also makes the white rose a perfect pick for your bridal hairstyle. A white rose symbolizes beauty and purity…what could better choice for a blushing bride? Depending on your hairstyle, you can simply secure the rose with hairpins or clips. Your florist may also be able to use a special serum to keep your flower fresh!

Floral hair accessories vary from the bold and bright to the dainty and demure. Dying to add a floral accessory to your wedding hairstyle? Find an accessory that works for you. Just because a gigantic gardenia looks great in a magazine, doesn’t mean you will like it for your look. Trying out different styles before your big day will help you select the perfect accent to your ‘do. Have fun with testing different styles and you will be sure to look less like a flower pot and more like the beautiful bride you are!
