flower friday {feature:harley davidson}

07 31 2009

There are a plethura of venues in utah in which to wed at. Few of them as cool as the Harley Davidson Store  in Lindon, Utah. So you can imagine the delight in my little soul when Megan Pearce booked me for her may 2009 wedding. She had some conections there and the biker owners went above and beyond for this lucky couple, closing down part of their store, moving most of their bikes down into their dungeon and adjusting merchandise so that  this architectural beauty could transform from a rustic & rough store to an unlikely and stunning wedding venue.

It was really important to megan keep the class and some tradtional floral ideas. for her bridal picture bouquet we decided to get a little more out there then the all white, still keep it earthy with a little eccentricity. I used tuberose, scabiosa, fuji mums, and succulent for this. She wanted a traditonal  all white wedding day bouquet with a little funk, oriental casablanca lilies, parrot tulips, scabiosa, fuji spider mums, and some stephanotis.

bridesmaids:  parrot tulips with bear grass collars really small clusters with rust colored wire. mothers wrist corsage bracelet bases were also made out of this very wire. and topped with a big fuji and some eucalyptus leaf.

The Harley building is uniquely made up of mostly recycled materials from a local steel plant. there is a lot of rustic-ness and great architectural detail. I wanted to move with this feeling for megan but with some simplicty and class. We used classic iron shepherd hooks that blended perfectly with the atmosphere. we hung glass n iron vases with a simple fuji bloom alternating with funky pomanders each a little different. Huge white square wreaths were hung on the entrance doors and then mimicked again on the inside decor in a new shape. fuji mums drew the eye from the monochromatic scheme surrounded my eucalyptus and small spotted feathers. the cake was also very simple with clear containers between layers for a few fresh blooms for texture and pow. centerpieces: some were square glass in glass with a few fuji blooms and bent wire in several rustic shades and spotted feathers. others tall cylindar features of fuji’s submerged on a rustic wire wrapped pole.

A wedding venue worth a second thought even if your not a biker and a great opportunity to move with tradition in a more creative way.
